SKIMSLAM NEEDS YOUR HELP

             Eight years!! Skim Slam has definitely made its mark on St. Thomas and this year SKIMCARIBBEAN is determined to bring this little contest to yet another level. The 2013 event once again promises to be a step forward toward a more positive and greener community. Skimming is a healthy activity that builds confidence, camaraderie, and a respect for the coastal environment. In the past few years, Skimcaribbean has been offering summer and weekend skim camps for local youths. We are proud to say that one of our riders Alejandro Lopez placed 37^th in the world in professional skimboarding in 2012.

Last year the 7th annual Skim Slam had 45 contestants, Ages 2-30+. Prizes were awarded for the top five riders in the five divisions. 2012 was a complete success thanks to the enthusiasm of all who participated! You can help us make 2013 even better. We are requesting help from our friends and past sponsors, as well as exploring new avenues for promoting skimboarding in the Caribbean. This years’ event is coming up quickly and there is a lot to do!  We need your help to pull it off.

§       “Green” Supplies (biodegradable plates, cups, etc.)

§       Awards for top riders (surf/skim industry related merchandise)

§       Judges scaffolding

§       PA system and DJ

§       Live musical entertainment

            Skimcaribbean would like to thank everyone that has encouraged and helped in our efforts to give kids another venue to express their talents. With your help, we can continue to support the growth of this positive sport.

            We are looking for monetary donations as well as donations of goods or services that could help with this years event. Companies that donate receive representation (logo and business or group name) on Skim Slam 2013 advertisements and marketing (e.g. Posters, Flyers and banners, as well as a link on skimcaribbean.com), plus a sponsor package filled with Skimslam goodies!

Hurricane Sandy pumps some rare WNW swell to the islands, lighting up all of Northside for 3 days straight.  This rare gem was caught at Cinnamon Bay yesterday by teamrider Alejandro Lopez who also recently won 2nd place in the Mini-Shaka Shakedown on the West Side of Oahu!! BUP BUP!

Congratulations to Alejandro and Nicolas Lopez for competing in the Oktoberfest this last weekend!  And Big Respect goes to Nicolas Lopez who took 4th in the Semi-Professional Division!

HL and the family from the VI just happen to be in California during our trip and hung out with us for one of the best sessions we have had this trip, beautifully blue dry sand barrels on a hot sunny hot day with positive vibrations with a few bros. Does not get much better than that.
