MAGENS BAY CATCHES THE NORTHWEST.

The models were right and a solid 10-15ft Northwest swell was right on time. Friday Morning we awoke to see large lines pealing off our outer cays and we knew the twice a year occurrence of a good skim at Magens Bay was at hand. Magens Bay is usually known for safari's full of cruise ship tourists, St Thomian weekend jump-ups, and the occasional  north-side soccer game. However, this day we had off-shore winds and glassy shorebreak. We coughed up our two dollars a piece for entry, met up with the boyz, bust out the cameras and started the calisthenics lead by Charlie, "ONE!.......TWO!.......SHRED!.......

OH SO SWEET

The struggle continues yet the reward is oh so sweet...  The skimcaribbean crew was blessed this weekend by heavy tradewinds from the east which produced some nice southeast wrapping swell. Crack a Heineken, catch a fire, lay back inna ya hammock, and just lime while you check da latest skimcaribbean blessings. MORE PROOF JAH LOVE

HURRICANE OMAR Skims St. Thomas

Over halfway thru the Hurricane Season and St Thomas had seen little action. October 12th the forecast got bad and the Skimcaribbean crew got ready. Tie the boats to every mooring and anchor you can find, Batten down the hatches, close the shutters, tie down the barbecue, find the cat and stock up on beer. By the 15th Omar had ramped up to a Cat2 Hurricane and we were in the path. The Skimcaribbean lair of Charlie and Josh became the shelter. Seven of us, 1 cat, 2 dogs, 2 cases Heineken, 1 case Sam Adams, 2 cases of water, a deck of cards any game we could find, 2 lanterns, 20 candles, a rain barrel, 1 camera , 1 inflatable Sumo suit and a lot of local Rum. Blessings that it was a near miss. Omar past to the East thru the Anagada Passage having winds just shy of a cat4 Hurricane. St Thomas was spared, amazingly we didn't lose power and the Spirit of the Hurricane party was lit all night. The next day after the curfew was lifted we got in an afternoon skim on what beach was left on the southside.

Lost Tribe of Skimmers found on St Maarten

Spots in the Caribbean are starting to pop up. Sint Maarten, Netherlands Antilles, Mullet Bay Beach, Home of a small group of skimmers that are charging. "Big Up" to Dennis for sending us some pics of him and his friend. Check his spot on the Map and view updated spots in the Virgins.

STT SOUTHSIDE SKIMSLAM 2008 Getting Ready

The Boyz at Skimcaribbean.com are planning it again. The third annual STT SouthSide Skim Slam. (Tenative date) June 28th. The event will be held at the Morningstar Beach (Frenchmans Reef  Marriott Beach) St Thomas, USVI. We are asking for support and contributions to help make this years event Hype. We are looking for prizes and gear for the gift bags and monetary donations to print T-shirts and make awards. We appreciate any help.
