Omar Meddeb

pass:mov
Omar Meddeb is a Newport local who is arguably the coolest skimmer on the peninsula. He has been an inspiration to the Lopez Brothers for a long while and it has been our pleasure to get to know Omar and see what he does on a daily basis. Perpetually stoked, Omar can go out on the smallest and windiest days and still blow your mind with corked out airs and steezy turns. It's that consistency that shows how much passion he has for the sport. We look forward to seeing Omar sometime soon and wish we could see the reaction to his own mini movie! So give it up to Omar Meddeb!

Krazy Keiki's

Examining the forecast the last couple days and spotting the NW swell approaching, Ale and Keiao set off for the North Shore mid morning hoping for the best. Upon arriving at Keiki's Beach, it seemed like the swell had not hit yet with the beach still having slope and the ground not shaking. . . I spoke too soon. 1o min later a set resembling Aliso on a good day rolled in, about 4-5 ft nice shape, barreling onto the dry sand. Another came, bigger this time, and a bigger one. Oh boy, lets go get David Sterman before it gets too big. Except as the tide got higher they got bigger and closer to shore, making me nervous to venture out to attempt and wrap. The Aliso characteristics became more of what you would expect in Cabo. I tried one bomb, wrapping mid way only to get thrown on the dry sand making my bones ache. I got ROLLED! It was getting too hectic. We caught it too late in the swell, too high tide & too gnarly. The bombs became the sets and decided to venture to Waimea. PHEW, smaller wraps. No pictures but fun chest high ones with the Sunday crowd. . . . .

Humbling Newport Beach

Last Session for the Lopez Brothers in California this trip and it was by far the biggest and gnarliest wedge the boys have seen. Nick and Ale were both charging and got some of the best and scariest waves of their lives. The Wedge is known to be one of the heaviest spots in the US and on days like these it is hard to say otherwise. Can't wait for summer. . . . .

Oktoberfest 11

The week before the Oktoberfest in Newport, the boys have been hittin' it hard and scoring some very fun fs liners in caribbean like weather in Newport. Sunny skies, fast water, sheet glass and plenty of beautiful blue waves keep the boys on point and looking forward to the weekend to come. Nicolas took 6th place and ale just had fun going against his idols, Brandon Sears and Teddy Vilasis. "It always awesome seeing all the pros you looked up to as a child shred to peices waves right in front of you and making it look effortless," -Alejandro. The Lopez Brothers are pretty stoked on life right now counting their many blessings one by one and eager to see new south pulses aproaching with sand at the wedge as prime as it gets. STAY TUNED. . . . . . .

Lopez Brothers in Santa Cruz

Nicolas Lopez took 4th in the Santa Cruz contest last weekend!! BUP BUP Congrats Nico!! Alejandro had a super stacked heat against 14 time world champ Bill Bryan and Brandon BCS Sears. Alejandro got knocked out but Bill said he definitely put up a fight and made it interesting. Besides from the contest, some fun sessions were had at the famous liner pointbreak called Rockies. The boys were in heaven with the waist high liners but unfortunately did not get any footage for the boys back home to drool over.

Skimcaribbean makes a boat trip to Sint Maarten

Skimcaribbean's Simplicity family made a trip to Saint Martin to try their luck at the Heineken Regatta. The weather and waves didn't cooperate but the Heinekens were cold and plentiful. The Island had the coolest vibes, Big up our St. Martin brethren, Biggy, and the Simpson Bay Marina crew. Good Time Charlie Big Respect. See you on the Rock. We'll be back. We did grab a fun little session at Mullet Bay and found Skimcaribbean has already made it's mark. Check Uncle Ray in the St. Martin Blu.

Playa Alicia turns on

Day 11: After a couple days of super small push, a nice ENE swell pumped into the Sosua area and the Lopez Brothers were in search for skim with size. Early in the morning, the brothers skimmed Playa Chiquita with a tide that was a bit low for the swell. After an hour, they decided to check Sosua's jem, Playa Alicia. Her gorgeous shoulder high wedging peaks left the boys in awe. . . Super steep wraps and liners were plentiful . . . . . . .
