Pictures are one thing but to see in real life the most epic skim wave in the world ridden by the most elite skimboarders is mind blowing to say the least. My brother and I have been fortunate enough to see this go down just hours ago. These are the memories you hold on to for the rest of your life and we are so thankful that we have had the privilege to experience The Wedge with insane conditions like these. . . Laguna Native Tyler Stanaland seen in the pictures claimed today as one of the biggest most makable Wedge he has ever seen, Give Thanks, Jah is Good!

Island Boys Get A Beatin' Misson
One ting about being a newcomer and learning to ride the Wedge, your going to receive your fair share of poundings. That is if you get a wave. Localism is harsh when its crowded and it is not a pretty sight. Verbal disputes are common and fights are not a rare sight, so you have to pick your waves accordingly. You start out at the back of the line but local pros go whenever they feel it's a good one. Leftovers are the only sider option unless you want to get smaller, meaty wraps at a section named Cylinders, which is known to throw the phattest barrels imaginable. The Lopez Brothers payin' their dues and moving up in the ranks! Yessi!

Cold A Street
Nick and the boys are getting ready for the Green Eggs and Ams contest tomorrow practicing on small but fun boost/barrel sections at the A street, where the first leg of the contest will be held. With the high tide in the late morning, the contest should have fun waves and hopefully sunny weather. Good luck Nick!! Stay Tuned . . .

First swell at Wedge
First swell of the season started with a bang, cylinder had prime launch ramps and wraps. It was inconsistent but fun for half the morning until the swell filled in around 2. When it did, it pumped perfect lil side wash to 6-7 ft heaving connections. Was not worth skimming in my opinion with 8 skimmers and 8 bodyboarders lining up for the sider. There were almost 2 fights, one between bodyboarders and one between a skimmer and bodyboarder. The waves are for everyone to share, no one owns a wave. I got out and decided to take a couple clips until my camera broke.

Caribbean Curiousity
Waves are so so today, so today the only thing I'm going to be skimming is the internet. Barbuda point break, and yes I'm taking bets this is skimmable on smaller days. I have google earthed it, for more rad pictures and videos of surfing down island go to saltydays.com!

North of A, what a good day
Yesterday, nice direction NW swell pumps across Newport beaches, flattening and producing perfect yet unreachable skim. Although there was one section of the beach with a patch to run, it was not all that great compared to the near point break north of the pier.

The Bryan Bro's on ESPN, Way Back When
Big Thanks to the Bryan Bro's who help get skimming to where it's at today!
Yesterday
Yesterday I decided to take it easy and film my good buddy Ryan Fleming. We walked across the street to find small but clean waves. Ryan was stoked someone filmed his session, as you can tell from the edit, nothing but laughs and smiles.

West and Aliso Check
Saturday mornin' was pretty small in Newport again and with Mama Wayz passing through Laguna to run errands, I ceased the opportunity to go and snap a couple pictures. To my surprise it was very fun looking at Aliso which was producing a mini sider! Sunny skies and warm weekend weather greeted only 6 skimmers all day long.
PS. Stay Tuned to see me ride my new board!

Treasure Island And West
On Thursday, Travis and I took a trip to Laguna and it seemed to be a very good call. West Street was empty and producing clean waist high siders connecting to chest high connections. We skimmed for about 3 hrs until a couple people showed up. After scoring there we were planning on calling it a day but had a feeling to check a fickle lil spot right up the road. Treasure Island had a fun fs liner that pushed into a 1 ft peak. Reminded me of Cinnamon Bay! Sunny, warm weather as usual allowed us to trunk it in the dead of winter. Give Thanks!!!
